And now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good.

I had such a great weekend. Really. It was so incredibly relaxing and exactly what I needed after a 52 hour work week. Yes, a weekend at Yahk, B.C. is precisely the thing I required to somewhat reboot, relax and get my mind back in order. I even had time to read most of a book called Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner, which I finished today and it was a good book; I totally enjoyed it. However one of the reasons why I read it so fast was because I needed to finish it before I wrote off motherhood for the rest of my life. This book really threw me for a loop and was a super wide eye opener. I had to finish it to know that everything turned out okay for this group of four new mothers. So as much as I enjoyed this book, I do not recommend it to anyone who does not have babies. However, read it if you do have children and perhaps feel as though you’re struggling. Just keep in mind that the language is colourful in some parts and that, well we all know where babies come from. Needless to say, Conor got an ear load of all of my fears for the future and all he got was a soaking wet t-shirt from my tears that seem to be rather endless at times.

Moral of this post: really great weekend. Great food. Great sleep (9+ hours!!!) and great company!

Yahk, B.C! Well that takes me home! I am now in Manitoba but have lived in B.C. most of my life. We used to travel through Yahk often.  I would have given my eye teeth to be in the mountains at Thanksgivings. Have a super week.

katie your running out of time to win a fall quilt to keep you warm now that thanksgiving is over! Quilt giveaway my blog!
Glad you guys had a good weekend away! Sorry for the book? that doesn’t sound fun! Glad it ended well… all you need to do is look around you at all the mothers that make it look like fun, a struggle and rewarding at the same time to now it’s all worth it and you’ll get your chance at it too!
Love ya Katie!

Mom

I can’t tell you enough how much I enjoyed having you and Conor at the trailer for thanksgiving! I try not to think of how much I will miss you when you go back to Denver….
Dad and I are thinking of refering to our property in BC as “The Summer House”. What do you think? Somehow, calling it “the trailer” minimizes the beauty we enjoy there. Next time you come we will go for a hike up the mountain! Too many bears this time of year. I will be sure to pick lots of saskatoons for you next year… I’ll freeze them so you can do them up when you come to visit.
I sure love you lots!!!
