And now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good.

John Steinbeck

Yesterday was my beloved country’s birthday. Unfortunately i was not in my country for that glorious celebration. Instead I was here. In Colorado. At church the opening and closing hymns were “America the Beautiful” and “The Star Spangled Banner.” I couldn’t do it. I just couldn’t sing those hymns on Canada day. I felt like I was a traitor to my country when I did. Plus I felt so homesick that I couldn’t sing! I’m so grateful for Canada. And man am I ever going to miss it over the next few years. There is no better place to be than in Canada!

Cute cake. Katie!  Well done.
I hear ya !  We were in the USA too, but I sang out- kind of my quiet little gift to my dear friends (who already know and love our utterly Canadian-ness) .
However, i have now got a little bonus!  The stanza ” for the la- and of the FREEE and the Home of the BRrave” has been on a seemingly permaloop in my brain all day !
