And now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good.

I needed a refresher on french seams. I probably could’ve figure it out all by myself but sometimes I just want to know “fer shore” that I’m doing it right and so I searched and I found a simply written tutorial on French Seams! For those who are reading and thinking, “what the heck is a french seam?” it is a seam that has no raw edges. After stitching twice the raw edges are enclosed within the fabric. It’s a more couture method of sewing, however it’s uses are many! And I’m excited to use it!

ooh ! Thanks for this blog- brought back some great memories.  I had forgotten how much I luuuuv French seams!  Couldn’t have sewn without them in the pre-serger days !

When i was a young mommy I used to sew almost all the gifts we gave, and a lot of baby Nathan’s clothes.

Everything was French Seamed because I thought it looked so nice and neat ( I also ironed all his t shirts and pressed his little baby trousers!) .  When it comes to sewing, French seams just look and feel like the ultimate in TLC to me- fully finished to the finest detail- even where nobody sees . Makes me smile thinkin’ about it!

Yeah, I haven’t used a French Seam in years. It’s amazing how you forget those things when you don’t use ‘em.  /images/smileys/icon_smile.gif
