And now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good.

It’s been a while since the last time I had a girls’ night, but tonight I was fortunate enough to spend an evening with one of my very good friends from high school, Karen. We planned on going to Moxies, but took a detour on the way there to a pillar of black smoke rising up from Millrise. We were obviously curious and headed over to see what the deal was and lo, it was a house burning down. I could hardly believe it. I have never witness such a thing and for goodness sake we got there well before any emergency vehicles arrived (including cops, yikes!). I must admit that it was so sad to see a house burn down and not only one but a chunk of the next door neighbor’s as well. It was horribly heartbreaking and scary! I wanted to cry on behalf of those families. On the other hand (the less sentimental hand), it was really intriguing to watch a house burn and feel the heat from across the street in the park and to see the firemen in action. Karen was a great person to watch a fire with since her brother is a firefighter. She knew some neat facts!

After that touch of excitement, we went and talked over delicious white chocolate brownies! This is definitely going to become a one month tradition (but hopefully not the fire!).

That is crazy! Last year we were visiting my mom when we had to evacuate the house because we thought it was going to catch on fire. It looked like the neighbors house behind us was on fire. It actually ended up being the field behind the neighbor’s house but the flames were huge and therefore very misleading. (I know, you were just dying to hear that story weren’t you!)
