And now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good.

My baby is tongue tied. Add to that me having flat nipples and we make quite the pair! Tomorrow morning we’re taking her into the hospital to have her tongue snipped. The procedure is called Lingual Frenuloplasty. She’ll be put under and will have to stay at the hospital for observation for 23 hours. Fortunately we can stay at the hospital with her. Although it’s only a 15 minute procedure I left our surgery consult an emotional wreck. I’m really praying and hoping everything goes okay. I must say I am looking forward to a less tiring nursing schedule, hopefully. Other potential results of this going un-snipped are a heart-shaped tongue and a speech impediment. Despite all the pros I’m still heart broken that my baby has to have this done.

Thoughts, prayers, love, encouragement welcome and needed!

Aw. That’s not fair on you new momma! I know you are going to be a wreck but I have known so many people whose babies have been tongue tied and you are doing the best thing for her. Lots of love and thoughts and prayers for Holly, and YOU to be able to feel peace!

I think its wonderful that we live in a time where this is a simple operation and Holly will have no lasting effective other then the problem will be solved.  That all said I understand your feelings and concerns Katie and Holly will be in my thoughts and prayers, please let me know how this goes.

Daria

Katie I’ve been praying all night for Holly and you and Conor. I know what it’s like to have a newborn baby that needs medical intervention, it’s gut wrenching. I’m so happy that Mom and Dad are down there with you to give you support and love.
I know it’s a frightening day, but try to focus on how lovely it will be to nurse Holly without the issues you’ve been facing. She’ll be able to swallow so much easier, and in turn be an even happier darling girl. And you’ll be a much less exhausted Mama!
You’re such a wonderful Mommy already, it’s beautiful to witness the instant love you have for your child. I’m so happy for you, that your bond with Holly is so strong already. It’s touching, in fact you made me cry on the phone the other night with your words about your love for her. Thank you for sharing that with me.
Hold onto your faith and those around you. Before you know it they’ll hand your babygirl back into your arms and you’ll be taking her home again. We love you guys so much! Please let us know how it goes, and give Holly a kiss from Auntie Daria & Uncle Nathan.

Katie and Conor -
Good news this procedure works and is a also a quick recovery. Also good news: General Anesthesia is extremely safe.
Who’s doing the surgery? Oral Surgeon or General Surgeon?
My prayers are with Holly and you,
Nate

Leave some room for the rest of us you two!

I heard the surgery went well, now you just have to make it a few more hours and I am sure that things will improve. You two are great parents and this to shall pass. She’s adorable. We’ll continue praying for you. Keep us updated.

Isn’t it amazing how much you worry about your little baby and you just want to shield them from anything painful or unpleasant? I hope everything went well and that your little Holly is feeling 100% soon! Be strong, Mommy!
