“You are entering this property at YOU OWN RISK!! You could be injured or killed. No insurance is provided. Helmets are required,” said the sign.
And so we entered, fearless.
No insurance is provided? Big deal. We have travel insurance. Helmets are required? Sure, but next time maybe you could make them stink less. My own risk? I do enjoy a risk every now and then.
Perhaps you are questioning what the heck this is all about. It’s all about intense, 50-60 mph go-karting just north of Thornton. It was sweet! We had to wear thick coveralls, helmets (duh), and neck braces. Gloves were optional. It was really fun. We went in heats of six people. When it was my turn, my goal was to not spin out or fall off of the track. And I didn’t! I actually pulled off second in my heat just a couple seconds behind numero uno! It was sweet! I totally owned that track. I love being a girl and breaking the stereotype. I’m sure all of the guys expected the girls to spin out or fall off the track. And they all did except me. It was awesome! Conor came in second in his heat and then third in the final race! That was really fun! Marc Ostler picked up some martenellis from Target. The first, second and third place winners stood on a picnic bench and got to shake up the martenellis. It was a good time!
