Well I hate packing (does anyone like it?). And now I have to do it all over again. It’s worth it though. Wait, one thing I do like about packing is the de-junking that gets done hand-in-hand. Yes, I do like de-junking and purging very much. It’s a feel good activity for me. Ha! I haven’t started packing yet, but I think I will on Saturday. You know, just start with the stuff that isn’t used often, like books. And I’ll hit the closets. I’m so glad I’ve had packing experience. I’m trying to remember it all… Martha Stewart’s Homekeeping Handbook has packing tips so I’ll skim over that sometime soon. PLEASE share your packing tips! I would so appreciate them!

06 Mar, 2008I have a great tip for you. I picked up some Awesome packing tape at Staples when we moved, it has different colors for different rooms and says the name on the tape (ie: kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, office, etc.).
It was so easy to plunk those boxes down where they went right away, and you barely had to look at it to know.

06 Mar, 2008It’s okay Nicole. I purged the bulk of it back at 319. I’m sorry you have been traumatized by the witness of that.

07 Mar, 2008Kent and i got this packing roll of saran like stuff. comes with handles and you can buy it at uhaul or maybe other places too. but it didn’t cost to much and you use it to wrap your furniture, like drawers closed and stuff. like you would see stuff on a pallet at costco. Anyways it came in handy!

07 Mar, 2008Liz,
That’s a sweet idea. I remember my friends using pallet wrap on Dad’s car one time as an alternative to toilet paper, that stuff is super strong!
I think we actually tried wrapping that pallet wrap across a street once around a light standard on either side or something like that, so it apparently has all sorts of uses!

07 Mar, 2008Excellent tip Liz! Thanks! And Conor, holy smokes. Who knew you were so rebellious! I feel like such a saint. I’ve never even been toilet papering.

07 Mar, 2008I like getting rid of junk too. I got rid of tons of stuff right before I got married. I am glad to not be lugging around a bunch of uselessness…don’t tell jon though, I like to blame him for making me throw away so many memories.

06 Mar, 2008You’re on the right track. Get rid of the stuff you don’t need or want anymore. There’s no point in hauling around stuff you don’t need to. Good luck with the packing.
