And now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good.

Conor and I watched the third Pirates of the Caribbean last night. Well technically I watched it and Conor fell asleep halfway. It was one weird movie! I know there are a lot of people out there who love the series but in my opinion each one is stranger than the first. For the first half an hour, Conor and I were totally lost as to what the heck was happening (perhaps we should’ve prepped ourselves by watching the second one?). It’s great that it ended happily though and thank goodness for that; I don’t want a fourth one to come out!

A great movie that Conor and I saw recently was “The Great Debaters.” I thoroughly enjoyed that one although it made me sad that a country’s history has to be so tainted!

Has anyone else seen some good or not-so-good movies recently that they’d like to tell me about?

Yeah, I’ve watched Pirates #3 about 3 times now and still haven’t seen or understood the entire flick yet. Maybe the 4th time will be the charm. Over the Holidays we say August Rush (highly recommend – a feel good movie), The Bee Movie (fun, but not a standout) and National Treasure (good escape movie). I also have recently re-watched Raiders of the Lost Ark from my home library – still a great movie after all of these years. Last night we watched an old 80’s movie called Somewhere In Time starring Christoper Reeve and Jane Seymour – a wonderful love story that was still magical after all of these years. Oh, I love the movies.

I don’t think that you can really appreciate Pirates #3 without having seen #2- which I had not. There were too many things that didn’t connect as a result, and so,for me at least, it wasn’t that great.  Obviously this sequel is meant for those who have seen the previous ones.  I do think that it would have been better if they had made it so that it stood alone as a good show.

National Treasure, for example, does.  You don’t have to have seen the first to enjoy the second, which was a good clean adventure.

Also enjoyed August Rush though I’d have liked it to go a bit farther- guess that’s a whole ‘nother movie!
