And now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good.

John Steinbeck

Yesterday I became a slight addict to fabric and slave to my Kenmore. I got busy and sewed like a mad woman! Not only did I make a slipcover for our coffee table equipped with a pocket on the side perfectly sized for the ensign and flawlessly furnished with 3 lidded baskets, as shown here:

But I also constructed 4 receiving blankets:

I plan on doing some hand embroidery on the blankets and just as a disclosure the red of the coffee table slipcover is much more vibrant and rich than the photo shows!

To wrap things up I ask this question: If you could purchase any one homemade item (price is not an object), what would it be?

wow! Girl blankets? Has your inclings for a boy changed? I love the fabrics!! I am so jealous that you get to be around USA material! Totally cute and way to go on the accomplishments!

Katie

Ha these are giveaways. Not keepers.

I love the slipcover for the coffee table. I can’t wait to see your next slipcover project.

Hi Katie,

I like the one in the bottom rt. corner best but all are great.  I am a fan of your, Liz’s and Daria’s blogs.  I love to hear about the kids.

I used to love to sew but not much time now with my horses.  I should send you the pattern for the quiet book I made for Nate and Jacqueline when they were babies, you would love it.  It is not quick but fun,  I think Daria’s kids have it now or so Cathy sid.

Nice work on the slipcover, Katie!  Been meaning to do one of those meself for some time now!

I am suffering from total fabric envy!  The receiving blankets are DARLING!!

My wish would be- if sewing costs were no object… someone to quilt stuff I make, someone to finish the stuff I don’t like doing…hmm Oh! Wait a minute!  I DO have both those things already.. Thank-you, Liz!

Other homemade things- custom table cloths with matching napkins- like a formal longish one for my new table (YES! its being carved as we speak!) or decorator floor length ones for the living room- and yes, a slipcover for my ottoman ‘table’ -like yours-do luv those box pleats!  Window coverings for my kitchen… essentially, for me, its home dec.

Loving the Coffee Table Cover and boxes… nicely done! Great Idea!

Daria

Loving those blankets Katie! I miss sewing so much, it’s fun to see the projects that you, Liz and Mom are always cranking out these days.
