Today was the day to hand sew and 2 movies later I am not done! The torture. Luckily I was smart enough to wear a thimble. At least my dress is done (I’ll model it for the next CK), but the quilt I’m binding still has a whole side and a half that needs finishing. Good thing I picked up three movies from the library although I think I’ve earned a break!

Alright! It’s official… again. I have the BEST husband ever! A couple Sundays ago in joint Relief Society and Priesthood, Family Home Evening was up for discussion and basically tailoring it to our individual families was the key point. Conor planned FHE this week and it was awesome. Definitely the best one so far. It was incredibly perfect. We opened with the hymn, “Count Your Many Blessings” sung loudly by ourselves and continued into a lesson on gratitude.
I’d like to share some quotes from our lesson:

Conor shared a really great lesson and then… we designed 2 different Thank-You cards together, printed them off and wrote thank-yous! It was SO MUCH FUN! And completely tailored to our little family of two. We thought we would just design the cards and write a couple because it was getting late, but no! We were way too excited and had to finish the job – stamps and everything! Best husband ever.
The lesson got me thinking that I would like to be a more grateful person. I can be a really spoiled brat sometimes. Writing all of this has also had me thinking back to the times I would wash the floor for my Mom or blitz clean or make dinner so that when she came home from work, her load was a little lighter. One of the reasons why I enjoyed doing these things for her so much is because she was so grateful! Often she would shed tears and tell me how much she appreciates me and that I would never understand to what extent unless I have a daughter like me. And you know, I really did feel appreciated. I always have found serving my mother to be extremely rewarding. And for that I’m grateful!
I am very thankful for Conor. He is so sweet and is always willing to give me a hand when I ask for it. He’s always quick to express his appreciation for me and the things I do (especially when I make food he likes!). It really is a blessing to live with someone who has such a grateful heart!
As I think about my life, it is easy to recognize all the things that I have to be grateful for! I am so blessed and I really need to take the time to appreciate everything that I have. And so I shall!
I was led to a great recipe recently; Perfect Popovers are delicious! I made some with dinner last night and sprinkled a little bit of parmesan cheese on the tops before I put them in the oven to bake. I don’t own a popover pan (one day I will!) so I used a muffin tin and made 8 instead of 6. Conor REALLY liked them and was VERY upset when I ate the last one. For those who don’t know (like me, before I had one), a popover is kind of like an upside down yorkshire pudding but without all the fat. It balloons up and is hollow from the bottom up. It’s also more eggy than a yorkshire. On top of all that, they are easy to make! Try them out and let me know what you think!

And share some news: Conor and I have been called to teach the CTR 5 class. We were in there today just to get the hang of things and we really loved it! We have 4 kids in our class – 3 girls and one boy. The boy, Everett, is a kid that I babysit every Thursday so I already know him. He’ll probably get sick of me. The three girls are cuties although none of them can really sit still, except one. Oh and they really liked my jewelry – earrings, watch and rings. Ha. I think Conor and I will quite enjoy this calling! Conor calls it “good practice.” Any suggestions??
And.. I want to refer everyone to a pair of jeans that I really love. They are the AE Blue Issue Trouser Jeans and boy are they flattering! Luckily for me they fit the thighs and the waist! My common problem is tight on the thighs, loose on the waist! Go try on a pair!
And.. Conor and I are pretty happy here…
Occasionally I shed my tears, but we’re doing good!
Conor and I watched the third Pirates of the Caribbean last night. Well technically I watched it and Conor fell asleep halfway. It was one weird movie! I know there are a lot of people out there who love the series but in my opinion each one is stranger than the first. For the first half an hour, Conor and I were totally lost as to what the heck was happening (perhaps we should’ve prepped ourselves by watching the second one?). It’s great that it ended happily though and thank goodness for that; I don’t want a fourth one to come out!
A great movie that Conor and I saw recently was “The Great Debaters.” I thoroughly enjoyed that one although it made me sad that a country’s history has to be so tainted!
