On Sunday, Conor and I had the fun of making dinner together. I really don’t like to have other people in the kitchen when I’m doing my thing. I have an extremely tough time letting others interrupt my “groove” if you will (just ask my sisters – they always wanted to help me bake cookies but never made it to the end!). But Conor has proven himself useful! Ha! We made tastey BBQed meatballs. I made the meatballs and Conor made the sauce! He made some good sauce too. It was funny when he splashed sauce over the cook book. He told me what he did I’m sure expecting me to be a little frusterated. But as Jeannette says, you know which recipes are the good ones by how messy the page is. Needless to say, this was a delicious meal.
Yesterday, I was itching to check out some fabric! So to the phonebook I went to look up some Northern Suburbia fabric places. I ended up going to a huge craft store. I found myself in heaven! Oh my goodness. This place was similar in price to Fabricland, but much tidier. And it had a couple isles of trim! I found some fabric that I would love to make a quilt out of for the living room. I don’t really care for our living room. I’ve been spending quite a bit of time thinking about what I would like to do differently. I’ve decided that it needs to be lightened up. I really like the dark wood that is in there and I want to compliment that but also add a little bit of light contrast. I decided that I’d like to throw in some yellow and green. And then this morning, after I saw Jim’s photo of the day (the lemon tree) I realized that perhaps I could pull off a yellow lemon quilt in the summer time in there… I don’t know. I’m still letting it form in my mind. I wouldn’t mind checking out some decorating magazines. Back to this original fabric for a quilt… it is the “perfect” green and it’s in the clearance isle. I think Conor and I may just have to “drop in” tomorrow. Hopefully it’s still there! It was way cheap!
Anyways… that’s my creative thinking for the day. I looked at the upholstery fabric and didn’t find anything that I love for recovering my furniture. But I kind of have something in my mind for that. I would really like to do stripes, but I don’t know if I’m willing to put forth that much effort… we’ll see!

12 Jun, 2007The lemon tree fabric sounds to die for! And this looks like a step in the direction of my mom’s famous seasonal decorating! Glad to hear you haven’t lost the itch for sewing! By the way if you find a fantastic baby lfannel that wouldn’t be here, by me a meter and I’ll pay you back. Well worth it, keep in mind a good deal though.
