Holly and I did a little experiment. What happens if we mix a red ice cube into blue water? We made sure to record our findings on paper. I'm not entirely sure that Holly fully understood that mixing red and blue makes purple, but she loved stirring with the spoon and watching the color change. And she liked coloring my crude drawings. Once we had made purple, orange, green and pink by popular demand, we had leftover dyed ice cubes. So we just kept going and were much less formal about it. I loved this activity! The materials we used were large mason jars, spoons, ice cube tray and food dye. Really basic.
