First off, thank you for all the great comments about my new blog. I'm glad you like it as much as I do!
I have a lot of things to share this week. I laid low on the posting last week since the new blog was under construction. So check back often.
Holly and I went to a lady bug hunt a little while back. My awesome friend, Natalia, organized a little brunch and then let loose 2000 ladybugs into her backyard. Well, I wouldn't say that lady bugs really let loose. They seemed fairly content to continue residing in their red mesh bag. Fortunately, this way Natalia could pass them to the squealing kids crowding around her. After a little while Holly had a turn to have lady bugs crawl on her. She was totally nonchalant about the whole thing, probably because we were up in the middle of her morning nap. That'll do it. It was the cutest idea and such a fun morning!
— Gretchen Rubin...I didn't want to be like the novelist who spent so much time rewriting his first sentence that he never wrote his second.
Welcome, welcome! This is the site of my new blog. Do you love it or what? Conor has been working on and consumed with this website all week. And man, is he ever good at what he does. He took exactly what I wanted, described in my not-easy-to-decifer way, and made it real. Let me give you a little run-down of how things are going to work over here. To the left, you'll see a photo and a quote. I'll be changing those periodically, ideally weekly. You may click on them and comment if you'd like or you can just enjoy an additional little insight to my life. You may have already noticed, but I'll point out that everything from my previous blog can now be found here, including your comments!
Are you intrigued by the name? Perhaps wondering why I choose beKatelyn to be the name of my new blog? Well head on over to my Katelyn page to find out. While you're at it, take a poke all around and let me know what you think!
On Sunday, I wore a very spring-y dress that I made. It’s McCall 6027 (view A) and I made it from a heavy, shiny, silky fabric in watercolour florals. I bought the fabric from Denver Fabrics (I buy pretty much all of my apparel fabric there) and fell in love with it instantly! It was an easy dress to make. As for the gladiators, I bought those babies in NYC, but you can buy them from Aldo. The sole of my shoes says a different brand so I’m thinking they were overproduced which is fine by me because I bought them for much less than what Aldo is selling them for. Boo ya.
PS: the grass has been green for a while here in Denver and now I’m seeing leaves on the trees! Eek!
Ahh, the soup that has forever changed my life. Seriously people, no other chicken noodle soup will ever be the same for me. I told the chef that it's changed my life and it really has; or at least I hope it has. In the second class, we poached whole chickens, made chicken stock, etuved vegetables, learned new knife skills and made a soup out of it all. For dessert, grapefruit, supremed and topped with basil chiffonade and candied zest. Yessir. Best Christmas present ever.
Added to my list: big old cutting board + 12 quart stock pot.
