Do you ever feel like some things just fall into your lap? And it’s gotta be because Heavenly Father loves you more than anything and wants you to be happy and feel his love.

Well something recently just fell into our laps in a way. We’re going to Montreal in November and it’s going to be an expensive trip. We knew that going into it. Conor looked up flights late last week and for the both of us, it was looking like nearly $1100. Yikes! So we didn’t buy tickets then. Conor returned to West Jet’s site last night and found that we could go to Montreal for $128 each and come back for the same price! Add taxes to that and our new total is $740! Steal of a deal. So of course the purchase was made and we sat on the couch in awe of how much our Heavenly Father loves us. And to me this is also a reassurance that everything is going to go just fine in Montreal which is something I really needed.

To add to it, we’re also able to get the sweet loft apartment that we want. I tell ya, things keep getting better and better!

This is a dress I made probably a month ago. It was such an easy pattern (Simplicity 3678), only took 4-5 hours from start to finish. Can’t complain about that! I made it out of a thick knit and paired it with the perfect turtleneck (from Esprit). Seriously, I’ve been looking for a short-sleeved, cream-coloured turtleneck for a long time and it was like a revelation when I found this bit of sweetness.

I finished the previous dress. It looks great and I’ll share some photos as soon as I wear it somewhere like church or the Relief Society Broadcast tomorrow. Today was a packed day, well actually every day this week has been jammed to the fullest. I cut out and began to sew a new dress. I’ve felt really panicked about my fall/winter wardrobe and I love to sew and so, well that’s the reason why I’ve been sewing. I’m pretty sure this is the last article of clothing I’ll do before I begin sharing the love and sewing for others. But not completely sure because I do have fabric for two more dresses, well and a skirt that needs finishing. Don’t hold me to anything! This little number is meant to have a zipper but I made it out of a knit and so I vetoed the zipper. Good for me right?

Today I also applied for a couple of second jobs. I think I’ll probably loose my marbles in the next couple months but at least I’ll be making a bit more money right? I think I’m just going to work retail and try really hard to not spend money. Well to be honest my plan is to buy fewer items but the items that I do buy will be classic wardrobe pieces that might be a tad bit pricier. Hopefully Conor doesn’t read this! Everyone likes a fashionable wife right?

Speaking of fashion, those short flat boots are sold out. And they aren’t on back order. Trust me I called. I did find a pair of other cute boots but they just don’t compare at $200. Yikes! Good thing I’m getting a second job! ;)

Sometimes I purposefully swamp myself so I don’t have to think of some other things. Ha. Today I began a new sewing project. I am in love with this fabric (I have enough left over to make a scarf!). It’s a knit and I got it for such a killer deal that I felt like a thief. I’ve been waiting to find the perfect pattern for this fabric and I found it very recently. Sewing has been going okay. The pattern is poorly written, but oh well. Here’s a sneak peak of what I’ve done so far; the bodice.

Every year the church I belong to organizes an inter-faith, city-wide food drive. It’s a pretty fun event and really, really exciting! I unfortunately wasn’t able to help deliver bags and flyers (due to a most abominable flu), but I was a full participant come Saturday when everything needed to be picked up. Yup. I drove the car and listened to Martha Stewart Radio while Jim and Conor did the hard labour. It was great. Best food drive ever! I also took some photos at my Stake Center of the whole procession of vehicles, volunteers and bins of food. In the end, the Calgary South Stake pulled away 5 semi trucks of food and throughout the city 1.2 MILLION DOLLARS worth of food was donated. We set a Guinness world record! Now that’s something to be proud of.
