Sometimes I purposefully swamp myself so I don’t have to think of some other things. Ha. Today I began a new sewing project. I am in love with this fabric (I have enough left over to make a scarf!). It’s a knit and I got it for such a killer deal that I felt like a thief. I’ve been waiting to find the perfect pattern for this fabric and I found it very recently. Sewing has been going okay. The pattern is poorly written, but oh well. Here’s a sneak peak of what I’ve done so far; the bodice.

Every year the church I belong to organizes an inter-faith, city-wide food drive. It’s a pretty fun event and really, really exciting! I unfortunately wasn’t able to help deliver bags and flyers (due to a most abominable flu), but I was a full participant come Saturday when everything needed to be picked up. Yup. I drove the car and listened to Martha Stewart Radio while Jim and Conor did the hard labour. It was great. Best food drive ever! I also took some photos at my Stake Center of the whole procession of vehicles, volunteers and bins of food. In the end, the Calgary South Stake pulled away 5 semi trucks of food and throughout the city 1.2 MILLION DOLLARS worth of food was donated. We set a Guinness world record! Now that’s something to be proud of.

Yes! I LOVE boots. I miss my black boots more than any other article of clothing left behind in Denver. But I found a solution people! Don’t worry. I found some really great boots that I think I can have shipped here to the Great North True and Free, but I don’t know which one!! So opinions people are needed here on my blog!
Do I get the Buckle Boots:

Or the Short Flat Boots:

Both would be in brown and they’re a killer deal, each being $59 (tempting to get two pairs!). I’m trying to ensure that all the pieces I buy here on out are more edgy or bold so I can add a little more oomph to my wardrobe.
My other question is what size since this is some serious online shopping. The Buckle Boot are by Not Rated and the Short Flat Boot are by Madden Girl. Do these brands fit big or small?
Whatcha think??
I caught the flu and I caught it hard. I was up all of Monday night sick as a dog. This is how my day went yesterday: Attempt to get up a couple times in the morning and find myself incapable of doing so until 1:45 in the afternoon. Relocate to the couch and watch movies and TV shows until 9:45 in the evening, getting up from the couch only 2-3 times in that 8 hour span. Go to bed just after 10 pm and sleep until 9 o’clock the next morning.
Through this whole ordeal the quote, “I’m just one stomach flu from my goal weight,” from The Devil Wears Prada has been in my mind. I weighed myself Monday night before the parade of everything the flu brings began and then I weighed myself this morning. Six pounds people. Six pounds is what I’ve lost off my carcass. Ugh.
As I was recovering from a most gruesome wisdom tooth experience, I sewed. I’m not even going to count the number of jaws that just hit the floor. What else was I supposed to do when I felt tired and a little crummy? I had to feel productive in some way. I made a jacket, McCalls 5530. It turned out great and I’m really happy with it. I lengthened it by 2 inches (thank goodness!) and I wish I had done bound button holes, but you don’t see the button holes anyways. A couple of the markings were confusing, but alas I figured it out! Do you like it?
