I dream of having a kitchen table. After eating at the counter on bar stools in our apartment in Glendale, a table would be rather refreshing. I envision center pieces and what kind of table I would want. There is one table complete with 4 chairs at ikea that Conor and I wouldn’t say no to (we also wouldn’t say no to the price!), however I wouldn’t back away from something that makes a statement. At Crate & Barrel I remember seeing a gorgeous table that was cottagey and warm and screams home-cooked meals! I see that table with a bench on one side and chairs that are mis-matched yet united in the feel they promote. I’m talking vintage and earthy. If anyone has been to Anthropologie they will understand! In a magazine, I noticed some vintage chairs and although you must purchase them in the store (on the other side of the country) they still give the feel of what I would like. It’s from a company called Honeybunch.

You can visit the website and take a peruse although be forewarned, this is a site marketed for parents aka, lots of children stuff, well mainly children stuff. Anyways, I love the look of antique and flea market items. I can’t wait to seriously stroll down Broadway Street in Denver and look into millions of antique stores with purpose!
Today I baked up and decorated down some cupcakes. It’s John’s 22nd birthday tomorrow (it feels like all 4 of us are getting so grown up… where does time go? It seems like only yesterday I was kicking him in the you-know-where and he was smacking my teeth out) so I thought it was only appropriate to celebrate with none other than sugar. My bro loooves sugar. Cupcakes it was and I even went the extra mile with different colours of icing and each cupcake has a numero “2″ on it! It was fun to shop for all that candy. Yippee! Check out also my artsy-fartsy pieces of art. I had a very good time mixing the colours. I did discover that if you mix red and yellow in a 1:2 ratio you get an adorable peachy pink. Alas, I had to add more yellow after declaring the colour a little too girlly.

Here is another Catalogue Katie (I know, I know, it’s been sporadic!). This dress was a real pain in the neck to cut out, but I did sew it all in one day! Recently I’ve been all about the marathon sews; it’s all or nothing baby! The problem is that I get so close to finishing that I just can’t resist. Some details I love about this dress are the french seams I used. The only raw edges (which I serged) were the armholes. Another thing that I’ve been heavy into recently is french seams. Hope you like it as much as I do!

Conor and I spent a little bit of time today with my Granny and Granddad and my Granny told me a really interesting fact about our (her) genealogy. My Auntie Michele has somehow managed to meander our genealogy all the way back to Adam – like the “Adam and Eve” Adam. Crazy, right? Fortunately she hit a lot of knights and French royalty. So get this, Shem (Noah’s son) and Seth (Adam’s son) are my long lost Daddys. Now I just need to head out to Turner Valley to behold the miracle myself!

Very recently a question has arisen in my life to which I have no solid answer. That question is, “am I a slave to my body or is my body a slave to me?” Deep thinking, I know. As you all are aware, I have begun running yet again (it’s an on-off relationship) and so now I feel as though I plan my life around my next run. I have to go to bed on time because I want to have the energy to run. I have to eat right so that I have the energy to run. Obviously this whole running thing is promoting a more healthier me, however sometimes I want to stay up late or eat all the junk food I can get my hands on. Which leads me to the other side of the question. I want to look trim, look my best (which also leads to physically feeling my best) so even though my hips ache, my calves are pulled tighter than a slingshot, and my feet are tender I keep on going. I keep on pushing. And then I feel exhausted and yet I still want to do more! The closest to a conclusion I have come is that my body is a slave to me and I am a slave to my body. It’s a continual circle that has pretty sweet pay-offs. Any other thoughts?
