I lost my Father-in-law’s key to his car that I’ve been borrowing. Yikes! I felt like a real idiot. I thought I knew where it was, but nope! I guess that’s what you get for carrying a key in your pocket. Oops. Luckily I was able to get a spare made at Canadian Tire today and all is well. I didn’t get in trouble (lol), but a couple jokes were cracked which I can take. You know what they say, “Don’t cry over spilt milk.”
Back to all the family events. It’s something a little bit new. I’m used to my CTR 5 class and hanging out with Hendrix one-on-one and now I am surrounded by 9 children, 8 of which are 6 and under! I’m glad I was able to teach CTR 5 and gain more experience with young children. I’ve most certainly developed a tone for specifically talking to little children. It seems to work! We went on an Easter clue hunt and my soon-to-be-14 nephew was my partner. Unfortunately we got stumped on our 4th clue and despite the fact that we were in the right location (YMCA) searching high and low, the clue was undiscoverable. And so we were the last of four to give up and return home where we received a warm welcome for everyone could then continue on with the day’s activities like the children’s egg hunts. But alas, my search was unfinished as I still had to hunt and find my own easter egg delicately label with my name. After being told directly where it was (under my left foot), I dug it out of the mulch to find that it was mulched, aka filled with mulch. Nonetheless, it was a fun afternoon and I wish my darling husband could’ve been here to enjoy it with me.

Two posts in one day, but my brother is the funniest brother in the whole world. John asked me if I wanted a pop, the answer “no.” He decided to get himself a caprisun style juice box out of the fridge (the last one upstairs) and I said that I’ll have that one. Out of rage and to spite me, John smashed the juice box on the floor expecting only simple drama and cheap tricks. Alas, the juice box exploded like a grenade spraying it’s acid orange juice all over the kitchen. That includes a few drips on my laptop keyboard even though it was up and open and facing away from the toxic spill. To say the least, neither of us had a pop or juice.
For all of my USA friends, a pop is a soda.
USSR. Canada. They’re both up north. The sun doesn’t rise as early here. That’s one big difference. Roads are better. I guess I’ll notice more as time goes by.
I was ultra surprised to find myself rather emotional to leave Denver, a city which has become my second home since I’ve laid down a lot of roots there. I must have seemed brisk as I said my goodbyes to Lisa Jensen at the airport because I was holding back tears, like choking them down. I probably looked like a sad excuse of myself as I was herded threw security. At the same time, my emotions were rather overwhelming as I entered into the country of which I’m a fierce patriot. I LOVE Canada. I received the warmest welcome in the history of the earth with my nieces and nephews running into my outstretched arms, yelling my name. There was even a banner spelling, “Happy Birthday Katie.” What a big surprise! Yes, back in Calgary. I miss my husband BIG TIME! Come home Conor!! I’m going to start a petition or a weekend walk to bring Conor home. Ha!
I definitely have my list of things that I miss about Denver, like my pal Hendrix and his mom, my best friend. And Crestmoor ward and all the fun we have. Sigh. I’ll be back! I promise!
Birthdays tell you how much you’re worth. Just kidding. I did have a pretty good birthday (until we got home at the end of the night and had some serious packing DRAMA and big tears on my part). Church was just fine and Sister Jensen gave me a cupcake and then took us home with her after church and we hung out in the kitchen and cooked (Lisa Jensen = good food) and of course ate it and followed up with great conversation. Lovely! THEN we went the the Andersons for dinner (delicious!) and enjoyed even more good company and conversation. AND THEN I was surprised to be more spoiled when the Andersons gave me the new Martha Stewart Cookie book! AND BEFORE that Conor gave me a new ipod nano and nike plus. AND EVEN BEFORE that Nicole and Liz gave me an Edge Brownie Pan! Who’s spoiled? I’m spoiled!
Thank you to everyone who remembered me and wished me a happy big 2-0!
