I thought this was funny, maybe a bit too funny, but hey! I’m packing and something has to keep me going!

I took off the slipcover and tied garbage bags around the cushions. Very cozy!

Yay! I love giveaways! Red Barn Co is giving away a handmade quilt in celebration of the 200th blog post! Hmm, this will be 186 for me… maybe I should do something fabulous… Visit the post, leave a comment and cross your fingers! FYI the quilt is GORGEOUS!

PS: Here’s a super duper funny short video about ICAA (Internet Contest Addictions Anonymous) brought to you by Whatever Hollywood. Enjoy!

The smell of apples
Drifts from the cardboard boxes
A change in seasons

Dark newspaper prints
Dirty white fingers and palms
Turning water black

Blowing tornadoes
Mixed with chilling hurricanes
Will stillness come here?

Stacked up very high
Like Indian totem poles
Intimidating

From warm to nippy
Such is the change in seasons
Denver to Calgary

I don’t enjoy packing and perhaps I got a little too “excited” about the whole thing when I began the expedition last week, but I feel so frazzled about the move, visas, and travel (yup, I’m one of those anxious travel people). Today is pick up boxes day, which has been semi-successful (thanks Natalia and Jon for the vehicle), however I still feel bogged down. Packing up 319 was so much easier. Not only did I have the help of my Momma and Mother-in-law, but I also did not need to reside in the packing mayhem and try to continue living life as normal as possible. That was the pack-up life of luxury! So here I am feeling slightly claustrophobic and very overwhelmed. It’ll all be over soon…

Yup, you read the title right. Conor and I have something really silly and stupid to disagree over and it is… the gender of our first child! Perhaps some of the family hasn’t heard my recent change of mind (which isn’t that recent – a few months old, but then when we consider time lines maybe it still is recent?)… Ready? I want to have a GIRL first and Conor is still true to our originally gender favouritism for a first child; he wants a BOY to precede the rest of our troops. So why is this a disagreement? I mean afterall, we should both grow-up and realize that ultimately it isn’t either of our decision. I guess we each are feeling a little selfish and want our own individual “mini-me.” Conor wants his little man so that he can have a petite buddy who equally admires cars and who he can wrestle with, etc. I want my little girlfriend (as I’ve already affectionately nick-named her) to dress up (like I’m talking we’ll be matching), bake with, read with and just be girly with! Really, truly neither of us are in the wrong but occasionally a little bit of heat’n'steam does arise from our future family conversations. Silly. Stupid. I know. But stubborn ol’ me is still determined to have my little girl be number one! Conor, love, I’m sure everyone would love to hear your side of the story.

DISCLAIMER: As far as Conor and I are aware, we are not, I repeat, ARE NOT pregnant as to our knowledge. Just had to throw that in there since we had Daria going a week ago purely by accident!
