Nothing gives me a fresh wave of homesickness like chit-chatting with the nieces and nephews on ichat. Yup! It kills me right through the heart. The thing is that they are growing and changing and learning and they won’t slow down not even for their favourite aunt and uncle. I just can’t believe it sometimes! And I want to go fabric shopping with my Mother-in-law (we always did have so much fun doing that)!! And while we’re on this topic, I want to go camping with my family and make dinner with my Momma and visit my Gramma (and eat good food ‘till I feel so sick)! Life is so unfair!
Last post I was loving the warm weather. And I certainly was! Yesterday was 22 degrees celsius – certainly t-shirt weather. BUT in the middle of last night I was woken up by such a clattering of the blinds! It had gotten so incredibly windy outside, like howling wind. This morning we awoke to snow falling every which direction being blown by that same howling wind. When I looked out the front window at 7 AM I couldn’t even see that tall Loew’s building shown in the landscape picture below!

As for CK, you can see in the photo that the wind was certainly a-going! In this edition, I’m wearing a blue cardigan (I adore cardigans) over a cream coloured A-line tee that has some great feminine details, brown fishnet stockings, pearls and a skirt I made in grade 10 Fashion class.

Now, if my readers will indulge me, I’d like to share a humourous (to me) story about this skirt. I made it in class so obviously it was worth marks. Before I began serging the side seams, our teacher reminded us to be very careful and not catch the skirt in the serger or else we’d be left with a hole and a ruined garment. Ya ya. Well guess who caught her skirt in the serger and applied a small hole, but a hole nonetheless? Yup! I did! Fortunately our teacher had taught us to mend before we began sewing garments and so I patched the hole and kept the tale between myself and my sewing table and the teacher never noticed! I got top marks! Secrecy pays off. Okay, and I’ve got to explain the boots. 1. It’s snowing. 2. I have a blister the size of a quarter on my left big toe and therefore am experiencing some throbbing pain. As a result I’m not feeling very eager to prance around in heels of any sort. Hope you all enjoy your Sunday! We’re off to stake conference really soon to find out who our new stake presidency is going to be, not that it really matters since we won’t even be around for half of their stewardship.
One thing I do love about Denver is the rosy sunsets that often glorify the sky. The entire landscape takes on a beautiful glow and it’s just so hard to not fall in love with something like that!

Another thing I’m really L-O-V-I-N-G is the warm weather! Although, I am dreading the summer’s heat. Ugh!
I did it! I joined a running club! I was so nervous too, so scared I’d be put to shame by the running elite. However, I fit in just fine and to top it off, I loved it. The Run Club is downtown at the Denver Pavilion with NikeTown. Everyone was so friendly and kind and easy to chat with. It was a really great atmosphere and I made a new friend whom I ran just over 3 miles (about 5 km) with and it was great! There were some really yummy refreshments afterwards (made it all worth it baby) and lots of water and vitamin water. The last Tuesday of each month there’s a draw and the lucky winner receives new shoes! Each Tuesday is an opportunity to enter the draw (hello motivation) and that’s one of my goals – to win a pair of shoes. Another great thing is that I received a coupon for 30% off at the Nike stores this weekend, which is so great since I really could use some more gear. Badly.
Downside: I came home to a starving husband. The Run Club started at 5:30 and I was home at 8pm. Conor had eaten only muffins in that time and hadn’t had any dinner. There were no leftovers and he didn’t make anything. Poor guy! I’m going to have to make sure that there are leftovers to eat on Tuesdays or something easy to make! Oh, I told Conor that I feel so healthy and he told me he likes it when I feel healthy because then I feel happy.
Oh to be in carefree primary and still find yourself embarrassed. Yesterday during closing exercises, we sang a birthday song to all the kids that had birthdays in March. Conor so kindly remembered that my birthday graces the month of March and sent me up to the front with everyone else. “And it’s a big one too,” he tells one of the Sunbeam teachers. My face felt warm, leading me to believe I was rosy and blushing. Well zippity-do and yippy-yay birthdays only happen once a year!
