Issue 5 of 2007. Thus far it’s been a good year for Catalogue Katie. She’s raking in millions and inspiring even more! On this Sabbath Day, she chose to wear a simple pencil skirt, white blouse, classic sweater vest, skinny patent belt, pearls, charcoal tights and kitten heals. Comfy, warm yet stylish! Catalogue Katie would like to here from you and see your latest style break through. Please send photos to katie.muirhead@creativejam.com. Who knows, there might be a prize involved!

This one’s for Daria!

I did it! I shopped Black Friday on the bus. Whew! I should be in a history textbook, get a medallion, receive a celebration party or something! All in all I wasn’t the most impressed with Black Friday. I did get flannel for ninety-nine cents a yard and purchased enough to make 6 receiving blankets (I swear that there is something in the water I’m not drinking because everyone is pregnant).
After my sewing trip, Conor and I went to the mall. It really wasn’t any busier than a regular Saturday leading up to the holidays! Conor and I had a lovely time though! We looked around and bought some lidded baskets from Crate and Barrel (for organizational purposes) and we went out to lunch at a modern Italian restaurant called, “North.” It was one of the best lunches I’ve ever had in my entire life! Oh my! Without a doubt the creme de la creme of chicken sandwiches. Just to get your mouth watering, we were served a type of sourdough bread – perfectly crunchy on the outside and delightfully soft and chewy on the inside. With that bread came the most wonderful sun-dried tomato butter that was the consistency of clouds. Absolutely fabulous! But enough of that…
We bought Conor a new pairs of jeans (which granted he needed) mostly for the purpose of getting a free “Individuals” table top book. It’s a volume of portraits of famous people. A real interesting flip through and the perfect book for a photographer to own!
And on to Target (after first going home)! Movies galore! Although I must admit my favourite purchase was my plain, black, round neck sweater vest. I essentially doubled our movie collection (causing a small controversy and need for returns, but I’ll save that for another post as this one is dragging on; someone shoot the cat).
So I didn’t get a buttload of things on sale. I did buy enough fabric to keep me busy for a few weeks and we were able to score the things we needed! Perfecto!
Yesterday, we were fortunate enough to enjoy a wonderful turkey dinner with our friends, Melanie and Ryan. It was such a delicious meal – turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, buns, salad, stuffing, pie… Melanie made a real yummy pumpkin chiffon pie. This is coming from someone who dislikes pumpkin pie and never eats it!! It was good! I certainly need to get the recipe. We played games and had a fabulous time! I discovered Taboo for the first time. I always thought it was an older person game because my parents played it with their friends (they actually kept it in the front closet so that they could grab it on the go!). I’m sorry I didn’t discover it sooner!!
I am thankful for the good friends we’ve made here in Colorado. I hope that they become an equivalent “Tom and Gail” for us one day!
I can do it! Totally can. After moving it feels like we’ve just stuffed all our leftover crap into our closet and we certainly haven’t revisited those closets since. BUT since listening to The Savvy Organizer and reading the tips, etc I am feeling uber capable. So here I go… diving into the embarrassing parts of my life! I am totally excited to see how I can change to feel more in control of what’s going on here in our puny apartment.
Check out The Savvy Organizer yourself and let me know how and what you want to change in your life! I’m thinking I may have to enlist the help of my craft buddy Julie. Maybe I can do it myself as long as I consistently think to myself “Top to Bottom Left to Right focus, focus, Focus!”
