Conor turned 23 on Saturday. We rung in the new year with a party Friday night with some friends from our ward. And then at midnight, when everyone had gone home, I allowed my persistent and begging husband to open up his presents. What an excited guy! Thank you to everyone who made Conor’s day special (and to my Freyja who made my day special! The first thing that she told Conor on the phone, after Happy Birthday, was that I sent her a letter). To help Conor feel old I gave him a sweater vest and a pair of loafers. I took these pictures with Conor’s new camera lens.

Oooo! I am excited to share this one. I found an incredible vintage online shoppe! The Red Dress Shoppe is the place to go for a boutique of “new retro dresses, retro clothing & vintage inspired style!” I am loving this! I have browsed and re-browsed this site over the past couple of days, longing for a few items. The Derby Doll dress with sparrows in teal is sweeping me away along with the red “Milly” Day dress and the 1930’s inspired Savannah Day dress. And did you see the prices?? This is like digging through your Gramma’s closet it’s so cheap! Don’t even get me started on the tops! And if you’re looking for a fabulous pencil skirt, you need not look any further. Just to get you a little more excited, for each article of clothing a size chart is given so you’ll know what exact size to get for all those new items. Let’s just say my Christmas list got a little longer! I think Catalogue Katie could really use a vintage twist (hint hint), especially with that “Buttercup” blouse! Check it out and tell me which one you like best!
As you all know, I love to bake and cook. LOVE IT! I often wish I had more people to cook for and less leftovers so that I can cook more meals and bake more treats! There are so many tasty morsels I want to make however Conor and I are really not looking into putting on weight. Therefore I have had to limit my creativity. Perhaps that’s one reason why I’d really like to have children… more mouths that eat! Yes, I am all about feeding the multitude and spending all day in the kitchen (strictly cooking, no cleaning or washing up).

Today I almost beat a 4 year old at chess. But he changed the rules so that I couldn’t take his King. So then he couldn’t take mine. So then no one won – it was a tie. Ridiculous I know.
Recently I’ve taking up “babysitting” again during the daylight hours in the middle of the week. I’ve found it’s nice to get out of the house and make some spending money (I must have something to support my hobbies). So far I’ve done this twice. However it will become a set weekly “job,” if you will.

Christmas seems so close yet so far. I’ve been trying my hardest to find a way to hitch-hike our gifts up to Canada. So far no luck, but I haven’t exhausted my resources just yet. Christmas is on my mind all the time. I’ve recently been trying to decide if we’ll have a tree and if we will, then what kind? Should we do a real tree or should we buy a little 3-foot tree? So many questions. Another thought weighing heavy on my mind is stockings. I have not made stockings for Conor and I yet. Whether I intend to or not isn’t the question. The questions lie in pattern, fabric and design. I can’t decide between retro-vintage or classic fabric nor will my mind settle on one “style” of stocking. One thing I know for sure is that I want to purchase quite a bit of extra fabric and make a tree skirt and Christmas quilt from the same fabric my family’s stockings are made from. So you can see why this is such a monumental decision. Once I chose the fabric, design and pattern it will be for a life time and then some. Oh Christmas. If anyone has any advice, I’d be glad to eat it up!!
