It's hard to get these two to coordinate and look at me and smile at the same time for a picture. So when it all came together really naturally one morning, I couldn't help but take a ton of photos. Holly and Gigi are absolutely adorable together. They're so different and they love each other so much. I can't even put into words how much these sweet, sweet darlings mean to me and I'm incapable of expressing the joy they've brought to me. They are pure happiness.
Greta's dark lashes are extra dark in the bathtub. She's beautiful.
I've had the fabric (minus the sashing) to make this quilt for almost 2 years. I really love this fabric! I couldn't decide how to sew it up for a while, which is part of the delay, the other part is just being busy. But, I kept coming across flying geese quilts and each time I thought of this fabric. I love that flying geese quilts are classic yet modern all at once. I had almost enough extra blocks for a baby quilt, so I ended up ordering an extra few fat quarters and some more backing and I made a baby quilt for my friend's soon-to-be new baby girl. So in the end, the fabric got a little extra attention.
Continuing on with our new little tradition, Holly did a 3 year-old painting. She used a fine paint brush and was really intent on gettng the little details just right. She takes a lot of pride in her art work. I see a skull when I look at this one, which is kind of cool. And a little embaressing that that's all I see when I look at it. But I love it. I'm happy to have a little skull painting in my home. Obviously Holly made it abstract and didn't intentionally paint a skull, so I'm not worried about her mental state. She's into circles, small details and zig-zagging (or writing words in her mind). Love, love, love having my girl paint! I can't wait to see what the future years will bring us. Oh, one more thing, Holly is still so proud of her 2 year-old painting. I love the boost of confidence displaying her art gives her.
We picked up a tool box building kit at the garlic festival in Gilroy and Conor and Holly built it together and then I helped Holly slather it with purple. And then Holly topped it off with stickers, because tacky and 3-year old are one in the same. It was really cute to watch Holly and Conor work on a little project together. She liked helping with the hammer, but then after a few tries, she prefered to relax and let Conor build it. My kind of girl.
