We went to Heritage Park with Conor's sisters and their kids and his parents. It was a fun day! The girls really, really enjoyed themselves. The presence of a real live train that was frequently tooting it's horn and constantly making loops around the park was a major perk. My girls, Greta especially, are obsessed with trains. I also really like trains. They come by it honestly. It is so fun to see some of the cousins together. They all have such a great time together. It was a fun day! (Lots of photos!)

One warm Saturday we went to Bonavista Lake. Greta loves to be out in the deeper water kicking her fat little thighs. It's really adorable. And Holly loved just playing. She's not a big swimmer, but she does love the water (trust me, I spent a couple pool days this summer forcing Holly into the deep water to take "swimming lessons." It wasn't pretty). This was a fun morning and would've been even more fun had Greta not screamed for the last half hour (not your fault Allison. Gigi can be so unpredictable!). Thanks to my Dad's intuition, he had us all home a little sooner than anticipated. Still, a wonderful morning! Greta crying is always apart of the deal.

For a good chunk of August, we were up in Canada visiting with our families. It was really fun. The girls were especially loved on and I really enjoyed being practically pampered at my parents' house. There were some days that I missed my girls because I didn't see them very much! I'll be posting some of the photos I took this week. Enjoy!

This past weekend, I ran the Color Run in San Jose. While it was fun, it wasn't my favorite race. It was poorly organized and the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds was the least scenic place I've ever run. If I do this run again, I'll want to do it in San Francisco for sure. Still, it was a nice break from the routine and it was great to get together with the girls!

I'm still trying to figure out what it is about the race that I didn't quite like and I think it's that it felt so synthetic. I felt like it was missing spontaneity and originality that I associate with a color festival. Maybe that's it? Or maybe it's because we had to rush home so Conor to get to work on a Saturday for his fourth day of endless work in a row. Who knows! Either way, I'd do it again (ideally in San Francisco) because at the end of the day, it was fun to run with the girls! (And PS: there were more of us, but needing to rush home, I only caught photos of the first four of us that finished)

Me and my running buddy, Nancy. We're running a half together in October. We just did 11 miles for our long run last week!color run

Holly needed a jewelry box for all her necklaces she's been making. So I picked up a cheap wood one from Michaels, slap a layer of paint on it and then Holly "helped" me glue gun the gems on it. A little pro-tip for parents, the tackier the better when it comes to toddlers. They just seem to love gaudy things. Or at least my girl does. I'm happy to let her explore her sense of taste and find out what she really likes. I personally love expensive wooden toys and handmade items. Holly doesn't always crush on them like I do. She's her own little person.
