My husband is the best. Conor encouraged me to leave the baby with him and go out and do some things I’ve been wanting to do. Yesterday I went to Joann’s, Pier 1, Sunflower Market and the bank. Honestly, it was wonderful. Then I came home and began a new project. I was inspired to make a spiderweb quilt, which I have since discovered is a huge amount of work! And the blocks I’ve completed are far from perfect. This quilt will hopefully be about 60″ squared and I think it’ll be perfect for picnics and pool days next summer. The reason why I choose this is because I wanted something that I can gradually work on. Obviously I don’t know myself.

These first 2 photos are of my first blocks. After completing those, I decided that I wanted to have a solid coloured center to make things a little easier. I think I prefer the look too since I’m not the best quilter around. I can’t decide if I’m going to use the first two blocks for a doll blanket or make 2 more blocks like them and make a baby blanket (for a gift, not for Holly). Each block measures 15.5 inches.

Oh how I’ve missed my sewing machine!

I am loving Holly’s cheeks! They’re are at their fullest and cutest when she’s in her car seat or swing.

Conor, Holly and I went to Utah this past weekend. The highlights were…

- Holly loving the car and winning the Best Road Trip Baby award
- Visiting Temple Square
- Breakfast and thrift store shopping with BFF, Hayley Mullen
- Buying 3 skirts and 2 vintage patterns for $14
- Attending one of Conor’s mission companions’ wedding reception
- Staying in Conor’s mission president’s ginormous home all by ourselves

Can’t wait for our next road trip… to Calgary!

Question: Is it okay for me to do some Back to School Shopping even though I’m not hitting the books this September?

I could really use a wardrobe make-over or at least a handful of cute tees. New clothing solves everything. And I’m sure it would make me feel better about my soft tummy. After I had Holly I shrunk super fast and I can fit into all my pre-pregnancy clothes including the jeans I never thought I’d be able to wear again. But, my tummy is so soft and lacking definition… New clothes would make me feel better.

It’s a cruel joke that on the night Holly sleeps the best yet, I can’t sleep. At least I folded the laundry and cleaned the most I have in a long time right?
