“Friends”

Last week we went up to Greenbluff with some of our favorite people and we picked peaches and some plums. The farm we went to has little handcarts and the kids all loved pushing and pulling ours around. This same farm had some sheep and a pig the kids could look at and it had a fun little cabin that made for some great play and make believe! These girls are so creative and fun.

For our last August weekend, we went camping with friends at Round Lake Idaho. We planned this little trip way back in June and everyone has looked forward to it. There were 5 families and we had a really great time! The kids all got along great and while the weather wasn't hot, it wasn't bad. Unfortunately just a couple days before our camping trip, fires were banned from Idaho campgrounds. Totally get it, but I'm totally sick of the smoke! Regardless, we had a lovely time and... Maeve slept! Yay! If only she had done that on our Priest Lake camping trip.

Highlights included: kiddos running wild, oohing and aahing over the fish Rob kept pulling out of the water, a little hike with a wooded fort, and jumping into the water with my bestie, Amorette. Summer, you've been so good to us!

Maeve in her fleece reminds me of Greta in hers so many years ago.

A pool day with a whole whack load of friends can't be anything but awesome! Maeve took a nap in the morning and was able to join us for some swimming in the afternoon. Maeve is doing so well in the water. She was swimming herself around in her puddle jumper without me touching her at all! When the puddle jumper tips her onto her back then she freaks, but overall this girl is so fearless in the water! She will jump in off the edge of the pool no problem! There was one little issue of when she almost drove herself in a little play car into the pool. It was a pretty dramatic save! I grabbed the car and the door facing the pool opened and Maeve managed to not fall in by clinging to the steering wheel! Nothing like a little excitement!

A really sad thing happened this week... our awesome neighbors and good friends moved to the other side of the country! We are so sad that they are gone! We had so much fun together and this past year we did a lot of Homeschool together. We are so grateful that we got to spend 3 years living so close to them!

We spent our last days with them making some solid happy memories! Hoping we can still see each other now and then and the kids are excited to be pen pals.

We spent a good chunk of our last day in Ecuador packing. We did bring home some souvenirs for sure. It was a little stressful making sure everything could fit because we didn't want to purchase a duffle bag or another piece of luggage. We ended up just using our feed sack market bags. I'm really proud of us!

After we packed up, we went out to lunch. Maeve ate so many french fries in Ecuador! For dessert, I ordered something traditional - sweet figs and cheese. It was good!

After lunch, we went to one of our favorite parks, but unfortunately the zipline was out of use. It was kind of disappointing.

We went to some new friends' home for dinner. The kids got to help make empanadas. It was super fun. And then we went home. And now we are home. And Ecuador feels like a beautiful dream.
