Yahk
We spent a lovely few days in Yahk with my parents, sisters, and some extended family. The girls just love going to Yahk and enjoying freedom and lots and lots of cousin play time! There's always lots of yummy food. Conor and I played games with family members. And Maeve actually did an excellent job of sleeping! Conor and I got to hike a little bit together. Here are some highlight photos from our time around the trailer. A million thanks to my Auntie Michele for letting us stay in her trailer. It makes our trip up so much smoother and easier.
Yesterday, we picked cherries (10#!) and some peaches. We love picking fruit out at Greenbluff. The real trick yesterday was to pick faster than Maeve was eating! Haha! We needed a close to home, easy Saturday activity this weekend so this was perfect. Today, I baked a small pan of brownies and I added fresh cherries. Yummy! I love summer.
I thought I would have all this time in summer because we would be on a break from school. I'm not sure if it's my time management or what, but I am still scrambling! Our house is so much less clean and tidy than it used to be but that's because we are giving way to things that I believe matter more... like picking strawberries, baking a cake from them and making jam. Or going to a movie with friends. And stopping by the neighbors house to chat and paint a section of the fence. And exercise, always my day revolves around exercise. Right now family bike rides are more important than that 7 o'clock sharp bedtime for Maeve. Make believe and reading books and playing with friends. Those are some of the things that are owning our days right now. So yes, my house is messy and not so clean as I prefer it to be, but I have 6 jars of delicious strawberry jam all in a row on my counter and memories made with my darling daughters.
Continuing to practice letting go... of what matters less. And embracing what matters most. Good, better, best. This doesn't come naturally to me. And maybe I was close to tears last night feeling like I'm not accomplishing anythings. But when I step back and take note of all these little things I'm doing, I need to pause and give myself a pat on the back. I'm doing alright.
We always love going to Sundance lake when we are in Calgary. This last time we went with one of my sisters, one of Conor's sisters and Conor's parents. It's so fun to play in the water, hang out and eat snacks. Maeve holding Archer is so cute!
We spent a week at Echo Lake, Montana with Conor's family. There was so much good in the week. Here are the highlights:
- Playing with my nieces and nephews
- Sitting in the lake every afternoon with Maeve
- Skinny dipping
- Wake surfing
- Watching Holly knee board
- Ripping around on Nathan's sea doo
- Catching a minnow with Lola
- Tubing with Josh
- Watching relationships between my girls and their cousins grow stronger
