One thing about kindergarten - I don't do nearly so many crafts with Greta because I know when Holly gets home from school she'll want to do it too and I'm just not usually up for getting out craft supplies twice in one day. But it's totally not fair to Greta. Holly had lots of time with just her and me crafting and Greta doesn't get to do the things Holly does at school. I'm working on changing my mentality and living in the moment with Greta. If I do do something with just Greta and I don't do it with Holly, Holly will often duplicate it on her own. She's done her own version of a few things now.

The other day Greta's joy school did the letter "G". I made each of the kids a little show ribbon to wear when we do the first letter of their first name. Greta has been dying for her special "G" day. When Holly got home from school she made her own (bigger) show ribbon. Holly never stops making!

A couple of my friends organized a cute little 3 year old soccer league. We had our first practice and game. Greta looked so cute in her tight little shorts! She loved the practice but the game didn't go as well. She was anticipating more passing and less taking the ball away. She had some big tears over that. I hope that the rest of the soccer games will go better. We're going to practice at home and really emphasize having fun running around with our friends and if we get to kick the ball then great, but if we don't, no big deal. Fingers crossed!

It's no secret that I'm crazy about these sisters. I'm sad that they have less time together, but it makes me so happy to see how well they play together. There's a different intensity to their play now that Holly's in school. Saturdays are so sweet. I felt so much momma guilt having Greta so close in age to Holly. But I've come to see that the gift of a sister is the best thing I've given both of them. I desperately hope they're able to stay close throughout the years.

Holly has been very excited about her new dress and shoes. It was a thrill to wear them to church on Sunday. (Greta has asked many times if we can buy a dress for her from the store... oh the life of hand-me-downs.)

Sometimes I think Holly's too old for pigtails. I usually associate them with baby Greta. But I love putting her hair in piggies. They're sweet, innocent and adorable. And if she can just stay little for a little longer... She's getting so big and grown up!

What do you do on those hotter than summer October days? Pull out the pool of course and try your best to cool down. It seems to be fairly consistent - a heat wave in October. When my girls weren't in school full time, I would take advantage of those hot days and drive to the beach (with zero traffic), laughing at all the poor souls who had a school schedule to keep. Well, now I am one of those poor souls. I'm grateful we have such a fun neighborhood at least!
